When we ask ourselves, what do we need the most after a very hard day? Well, I think our answer will mostly be finding peace and happiness, not giving up. But, the question is what do we need to give up to achieve that? Then, the answer will be the hardest to find and the most challenging to do.
If you are having such a hard time these days, maybe the coming words are for you. I’m not giving advice or something. It’s only sharing what is on my mind with someone who may need to hear it. Furthermore, what I want to say the most is: “Nothing lasts forever, so don’t worry too much.”
“You need to spend time crawling alone through shadows to truly appreciate what it is to stand in the sun.” ― Shaun Hick
We just want to rest
Sometimes, we just want to rest and have a peaceful mind even if the price is giving up our dreams and maybe hopes about a future we have been planning for. While life has become very stressful, giving up hasn’t been as hard as it was before. It’s the most reachable answer for an exhausted soul nowadays.
We have broken hearts inside, have lost precious companies, or lost the passion to work longer in jobs we do have not much interest in, that’s why bitterness has become somehow our identity. Those times may seem very depressing and dull, yet they are a reality we face all the time.
“Do not give up easily, instead give up the thoughts of giving up.” ― Kenneth M. Solis
Happy times will take over
Just like the sun and the moon are showing up alternatively, surely times of peace and happiness usually take over after a hard battle of fighting our weak souls, along with the desire to give up. Therefore, the most crucial step is the next one; the one following such tough times.
The next thing we ought to worry about is what if we give up. Will peace come and make us live happily ever after? No actually, the further we go forward on our road, the harder the decision to quit.
To give up is to live a momentum relief. It’s like a few seconds of stress-free breath followed by tons of harsher consequences. To throw away years and times of hard work and endurance. It’s like losing the reason why we started from the beginning.
“Things don’t go wrong and break your heart so you can become bitter and give up. They happen to break you down and build you up so you can be all that you were intended to be.” ― Charlie Tremendous Jones
What are the other options?
Rather than giving up on a momentum recovery, why not think about the other options we have? There is resting and there is getting rejected or just failing. Winning or giving up are not the only answers we have in life.
We only need a reminder that life is all about choices and options and our role is to look carefully to pick the best for us.
Fear and judgmental thoughts we have about ourselves prevent us from seeing the whole story at times. In other words, we need to experience failure and rejection from time to time while we believe we are still on the right track.
Certainly, going forward doesn’t mean the road is paved and straight-lined, that’s why we have to accept getting tripped and falling.
When we stay down there every time we fall, it is the same as giving up. We lose by admitting defeat and fearing to stand up again, not by falling. How can we go on the second round if we are down there?
Happiness won’t reach those who are lower than its level. We have to be the first to approach.
“In life and a boxing ring, the defeat is not declared when you fall. It is declared only when you refuse to get up” ― Manoj Arora
We deserve to be happy
We cannot settle for less than what we deserve. We need to believe that deep inside us, there is a power of perseverance and determination that will not let us be content with staying lower than planned. Our dreams will appear in front of our eyes every time we get further from them.
Fight for your happiness because only you will. We deserve to be happy and we need our inner power to drive us forward instead of false emotions to bring us down. Peace and happiness will never be reached by giving up everything, only torturing ourselves will be the result.
We will not give up because we will try the other options. We will rest, fail, fall, and then resume our plans to achieve those precious dreams. Happiness will follow; after each fall, one station of happy times will be on the way. Don’t lose it by going backward. You deserve to be happy.
“Before you doubt yourself, do something. Before you quit, try again. Before you leave, get back in.” ― Michael Bassey Johnson
